Board Giving at 95% at New Hampshire Public Television

New Hampshire Public Television (NHPTV) has been making steady progress since signing on with the MGI project, and we've accomplished many of our initial goals including a 9.5% increase in overall giving to the major giving society. Board giving is now at 95%, there's been a 61% increase in revenue from the Board, and all of NHPTV's senior managers are major givers. After eight months of careful coordination and solicitation efforts that involved our Manager of Major Giving, our executive producer and the General Manager, NHPTV received a new gift of $25,000 from a long-time donor who asked a lot of tough questions about public television and quizzed us on our vision of the future.

Vermont Public Television Receives $300,000 Through Board Involvement

As we reported earlier, Vermont Public Television (VPT) is progressing nicely in Phase 2 of the MGI. Our board is starting to buy in to the concept of "personalized fundraising." In the past, our major gifts were done with direct mail with board personalized endorsements on the letters... with the exception of a few major gifts solicited personally by the Major Gifts Director and a few planned gifts by the VP of Marketing. This culture is beginning to change as we involve the board and president with cultivation and solicitation training.

The board has been through training and, through a series of one-on-one meetings, eleven board members have agreed to participate in MGI. We now have 36 prospects that we are working with and 18 personal contacts have been made by board members.

The big news is that we just secured a $300,000 endowment gift to establish a fund for Canadian programming. We all feel this is excellent progress and only the beginning of this effort. Cultivation does not happen overnight... it is a long, on-going process that produces gifts at unpredictable times throughout the process. We are extremely grateful to those who are participating in the project and taking advantage of our consultant who had been graciously provided by CPB.
